Default A/D Blinding Assassin (beta)

This builds primary purpose is to hunt down melee and block them as well. I am still working on a few issues and would like some feedback but it does decently well at its job.

Dagger mastery: 12 (9+1+2)
Shadow arts: 10 (8+2)
Crit. Strikes: 10 (9+1)
Earth Prayers: 10

[skill]Golden fox Strike[/skill][skill]golden lotus strike[/skill][skill]wild strike[/skill][skill]critical strike[/skill][skill]unseen fury[/skill][skill]shroud of distress[/skill][skill]ebon dust aura[/skill][skill]mystic regeneration[/skill]

Equipment:
-full radiant armor
-bladed mask
-major dagger and major shadow arts
-minor critical strikes
-attunement
-best vigor rune

-ebon(required) daggers of fortitude with "I have the power!"(+5 energy) inscription

Usage:

-Keep up unseen fury and shroud of distress. these are the longest lasting of your skills and can be upkept since they end at around the same time their recharge is done.

-When you spot an opponent cast ebon dust aura and then mystic regeneration. mystic regen serves as a cover enchanment and health since it recharges in 5 seconds.

-start with golden fox strike to ensure your hit connects and blinds them then use wild strike and critical strike. when they recharge begin again with golden lotus to upkeep energy.

-maintain ebon dust aura throughout the battle and mystic regen to cover it and gain you health while shroud gives you defense if things become a little instense

variants:

-For Pve/arenas you can get rid of golden fox strike for a rebirth/res signet.
-if you feel comfortable you can get rid of Critical Strike or Golden Lotus Strike for a different attack.
-with some manipulation and planning this could take on and farm melee bosses

This build is still under development to see if I can impove problem areas (high damage vs energy) and make sure the build still works. and feedback would be nice. right now this build has a ton of energy vs the 100 armor and managed to take it down before unseen and shroud went out which were activated at the gate of the area.

If all equipment is assembled at max you will have 490 health and 40 energy.

Counters:
-Blinding (ironic, isn't it?)
-standard anti-melee hexes. blocking doesn't count.
-mediocre to heavy enchantment removal
-energy denial

It does its job well and since attack skills are armor ignoring its good against melee. Only problem is that its one of those builds that you cant fit a rez sig in it without damaging it(unless your dealing with multiple sources of physical damage you can drop shroud of distress).

The only problem i see is that u have no snare. Ppl would just run away, at least thats what i would do. If not snare that at least a running skill would work to.

Hmm. well, in PvE monsters generally won't run from someone with lower armor and this makes this assassin prime for taking on a warrior, since there is generally just 1 to 2 warriors/melee per group. the exception is nightfall but even then they spread out and hunt casters. but true, if used for PvP someone can run from it. I'll see what i can do about that problem. in the meantime just relentlessly hunt them down like a fox hunting a rabbit and, if in a party, start scaring off warriors/dervish/assassin by blinding continously and having rangers freak out by activating stances when you blind them or get near.

Res sig eh? true that this build does rely on quite a few skills but some you can leave behind depending on what area you enter and what you will encounter.(most people I met who are offensive don't take res sigs anyway. -_-') for instance, the desolation in nightfall has mainly melee characters who carry a rather weak defensive skill. if need be you can replace golden lotus for the res sig since the build does no good if you can't hit them. i'll try and find another energy source in the meantime and/or hope that one of the skills in GW:EN will be an off-hand attack which provides energy. or replaces crit strike/golden foxes job for energy/accuracy.

EDIT: since you normally have monks in the party you can replace mystic regen for something cheaper or energy management wise (way of the lotus for example) and pretty much get rid of golden lotus for a res sig since golden fox recharges so quickly anyway.

I still don't get why people run this kind of build. The Mo/A's running around at least get a bigger energy pool. This is just much, much worse than any elementalist running [skill]blinding flash[/skill].
Seriously, why?
Anyway, EDA lasts 21 seconds at earth prayers 8, and thats already +3/enchantment for mystic regen, so there's no point going over that much. I guess that's just one more thing I don't see the point of in this build.

EDIT: I just figured out why. People are used to seeing blinding assassins after they started using signet of shadows+blinding surge deadly arts spike, so they don't react to the concept like they should. Really people, this is Warrior+mending bad.

1: +6 regen is usually not enough if you go on the front lines, even with a monk backing you which is why i have shroud, to act as an emergency defense measure and to act as another +3

2: Recasting ebon dust over and over along with mystic regen is KINDA hard on your energy.

3: this build was inspired by seeing if EBA could be used in many different forms of play, and on a sin of all things. not to mention its ability to be able to take on tanks. not from blind spikers, otherwise you would see signet of shadows in here.

4: learn to actually try out the build properly before you make any criticism.

5: if its some other reason you are complaining, such as it may bring trouble for your own melee character or you just feel like being an ass, do it in another area because from here on your flames are ignored.

Why would I try out this build? I own a dervish.
Outside of a Ranger(expertise, long range) there's no other class I'd ever run with EDA. If I tried every half-cooked build people theorized out in these forums I'd be playing all day (and dying constantly). The theory(having a blinding spammer with low energy and that needs to run up to stuff and hit them to blind) is a bad one. At least this one:
http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:A/any_Shadow_Faux
deals with casters .

Oh guess what? I also own a dervish. having a dervish to use it is typical. its what people expect. I want to see if there is anything different out there since a good build can also rely on the secondary profession and not just the primary.

as for the shadow faux, no thanks. that build was already made and I want to try a different direction and as for trying a build you misunderstand. try and use it BEFORE making a comment/flame/complaint otherwise leave it alone.

Compare it favorably to this: http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/...htning_Blinder
Name one advantage. Other than, you know, "OMG, its a sin blinding people...nevermind, he ran out of energy...got crippled...is blind...took heavy degen from the ranger before he could blind him...can't bling the ranger through whirling defense...."

You seem to have forgotten that this is still (beta) hence the sign. I am still working on some issues with it such as energy and condition removal which is why I would appreciate constructive responses, not flames to go away because you found someone else's build and want to vent some anger out of your miserable life. if you don't have something good to say then don't say it and leave. why are you even in here anyway? you aren't doing anything at all but making a fuss over something that is still being worked on, like an impatient five year old wanting to play with a toy his father is still fixing.

This is a combination of personal attacks and lack of understanding of what a forum is, apparently.
You post builds here for criticism.I'm criticizing the build by saying it doesn't do anything useful, and you're countering this by calling me names and throwing a hissy fit.
Oh and you should go learn what flaming is.

I'd say the same about you. besides that i've asked for constructive criticism and saying that the build is useless is not constructive criticism. But enough with this, you leave your opinion and I leave with mine. case closed and end of story since this is going nowhere fast. but I must thank you for this discussion because it kept this topic up at the top for others to see and judge on their own. if they use it then fine and if they don't then i'm okay with that too. if they find out how to make it better and keep it to themselves then that is fine too. Overall it is a love-hate relationship here.

Putting (beta) in your topic title does NOT improve the build. (yeah go ahead and twist my words, like I twisted yours )

I never said putting (beta) into the build name improved it. that just means people can expect changes, sometimes radical ones. it means that it is still under development and I may get rid of ebon dust aura altogether for, say, signet of midnight and something else.

I swear I need to get away from guild wars. too many uptight people around here. but what else do you expect from something that's free? ah well, the good days are long gone and so have the people.

Chaos, just so you know I'm on your side o_O *read through it all*

Though, unfortunately, I don't know what to say to help tweak or adjust your build D:

You got blocks somewhat covered, though getting a snare would be nice to have. Another thing is that you don't do a lot of damage, at least a lot of repetative damage. If you just focus on melee and bank on the fact that they will be blinded, maybe you can take out shroud?

x-x;; *doesn't know and it's almost 4 in the morning*

Just some thoughts. Could also have Critical Eye instead to help with energy maybe.
